Thailand

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.
As you may know, I was away for a few weeks - travelling around Asia & Austrailia with one of my best friends. We had the most amazing time!

Our first destination was Thailand.
Thailand is undoubtedly one of the most incredible places in the world.
It is a place of fearless action, vibrant surroundings and inescapable beauty. I found myself in shock that the experiences were real. Lady boys and cabaret shows, rats the size of cats, multiple beaches, people slitting their tongues as part of their religion, tuc tucs being the main method of transport, the craziest arrangement of electricity wires, full moon parties, scorpions for lunch, the most beautiful collections of silk fabrics and beading - Thailand certainly satisfied my expectations. Fearless, crazy and beautiful.

After the first few days of our stay in Thailand, I hardly reacted when I saw a family of four on the back of a motorcycle. When we were getting onto a ferry, we walked over a plank of wood, held in place by two tyres (and no railing!) - The balancing act of carrying my 18kg back pack and walking over a wooden plank suddenly became normal.

Thailand is filled with character. I don't really know where to begin or end with this post but I'm hoping the pictures will tell the stories!

Avista Hotel, Phuket

If you are planning a trip to Thailand, be sure to book into a 5* hotel for at least one night. You won't believe the prices!
Myself and Lorraine decided to stay in the 'Avista Hideaway Spa & Resort hotel' in Patong. It was approx €50 per night!
Undoubtedly the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in, our room was a stylish contemporary Thai design with indoor-outdoor living. We had our own entrance to the pool from the bedroom. There were lavish lounges, outdoor dining areas, outdoor bathtubs and showers. The staff were so helpful and friendly - It really was an experience!

Maya Bay

Maya Bay is one of the world's most renowned beaches, located on Phi Phi island. You may have heard of it before as the film 'The Beach' (with Leonardo DiCaprio) was filmed there!
During the day, we went swimming in the sea, wandered through the island and had a barbecue on the beach. You could spend endless hours admiring the views.
At night time, we went snorkelling to see the plankton (little fish which glow in the water). I'm afraid I was a bit sea sick (Poor Lorraine was nursing me for most of the night!) but despite the wobbly tummy, we had a fantastic time. We stayed on the boat that night - I have to admit, I didn't have the best night's sleep of my life but it was a brilliant trip, one I'll never forget!

I hope you liked my post on Thailand.. Our next stop was Sydney.. I'm in the middle of writing the post this minute so it will hopefully be live tomorrow!

I'm back to work tomorrow (Monday January 12th) so please feel free to drop me an email / call if you have any questions!
Excited for the year ahead :-)
