I hope you're having a lovely weekend.
Over the last couple of months, I have been playing with the idea of getting laser hair removal, putting it on the long finger more than anything! Like many of you I'm sure, I'm not a fan of waxing/shaving - It's just the inconvenience of it more than anything else!
When I opened my Boutique in the Powerscourt, one of my first customers was Laura Murphy, the Director of Advanced Laser Light Clinic on Drury Street in Dublin. She briefly told me about her business (almost 20 years old!) and invited me to pop in for a consultation for Laser Hair removal.
With Wedding & Racing season underway, I never got a chance to until now!
My first consultation in the clinic on Drury Street was with Grainne - I cannot say enough about this lady! She was so informative about the procedure, making me aware of the do's and dont's before Laser.
Here are some tips she gave me:
Up to this point, the only thing I heard about Laser Hair Removal was that it's very painful but so worth it. My pain threshold was (and is!) nil so I was terrified!
Grainne assured me it wasn't painful, slightly uncomfortable but not painful. It was like having an elastic band smack against your skin.
When I went in for the treatment, I had the clinic to myself. There is one treatment room for Laser Hair Removal. It's a very personal service, all Grainne's attention was on was her appointment with me.
There was a funky pair of sunglasses on the bed to protect your eyes, paper underwear and a towel.
The laser treatment itself was exactly as Grainne said it, a rubber band smacking your wrist. I've been in more comfortable situations (For example, eating a Magnum Almond on the beach, lol) but it was totally bearable. I barely felt anything on my underarms and I imagine your legs would be the same (I just got my underarms and bikini line done).
I could feel a little bit more on my bikini line but no pain worth talking about. Grainne took her time doing it, stopping and starting from time to time. It took about 30 mins.
Overall I think I will need 6-8 sessions, one every couple of weeks so by early next year I will be razor free!
Two of my friends got laser hair removal done, they said it was the best thing ever !
I mentioned that Grainne suggested washing with a body wash that contains Glycolic Acid. Jennifer Rock a.k.a @TheSkinNerd on Snapchat kindly sent me down the Image Body Lotion. Image Skincare is my latest skin range obsession. If you follow me on Snapchat (UN: jenniferwrynne), you will know I have changed my Daily Skincare routine to all Image products.
I'm going to write another blog post in the next few days telling you all about that!
Have a lovely weekend!
