Hi everyone, I hope you're having a lovely Paddys Day weekend! I'm writing this post a little later than normal. I usually manage to squeeze my Cheltenham blog posts up either the day of the races or the day after but this week was a crazy one! Myself and my Mum head to Cheltenham every year for the Tuesday & Wednesday of the festival. As you may remember, I was very fortunate to win the Best Dressed Lady prize there in 2015 (4 years ago!) so I always love making the trip back! Best Dressed Lady at Cheltenham 2015This years dressThis year, I was a little more organised than I normally am with my outfits (I'm usually last minute / the night before kind of person) but for this week, I was getting them custom-made so I couldn't exactly ring the designer on the last minute! Shauna Fay is an amazing Irish Designer based in Newry, Co Down. Over the last few years, I have made hats for clients with the most stunning dresses and one name that kept popping up was Shauna Fay. Her designs were beautifully made, the tailoring was utter perfection, not to mention the fabrics, laces and trims she uses. When I had my Boutique, I wanted to stock Shaunas dresses but because they are custom made for her clients, it wasn't possible. When I closed my Boutique, I had it in my head this year that I wanted to support as many Irish Boutiques and Designers as possible. The first one that popped into my mind was Shauna Fay (It may have something got to do with the fact that I stalk her Instagram quite a bit!) so myself & my Mum headed to her boutique in Newry a few weeks ago! To say we were blown away by her dress collection was an understatement. I tried on 5 dresses and loved every single one of them. I could have tried on more but there was no point - I loved everything and trying on more was just going to lead to confusion! Of the 5, I picked two to get made - the first of which I wore to Cheltenham day 1: The outfit was a two piece crepe dress and cape with the most beautiful lace detailing. It was made to perfection - figure flattering, perfectly tailored and comfortable to wear. My HatFor my hat, I decided to go with quite a big statement piece. Of course, you can wear any size/style hat with this outfit but for me, I knew I wanted big (It is Cheltenham after all!) Shauna very kindly gave me leftover lace to use on my hat so I started by blocking a front facing disc in the same coloured ivory crepe fabric. When I added the lace, I kind of felt, it needed more. I knew in the back of my mind I had this stunning gold beading so I added it to the outline of the hat and the back - See pictures below... AccessoriesFor the rest of my accessories, I kept them very simple (The hat and dress were doing enough talking) Shoes: I wore simple gold heels from River Island which complimented the belt on the dress and beading on the hat. Jewellery: I wore my Chanel bracelet - A gift received a few years ago. I've worn them to every dressy occasion since!
