Happy New Year everyone!
I cannot believe it's 2016 already.. I'm sooo excited for the year ahead!
I'm on holdays in Barcelona - A few days away before the 2016 madness kicks in.
For New Years Eve, we went to the spectacular Font Magica de Montjuic (or Magic Fountain) near the Plaza Espanya.. It’s a beautiful area both day and night, especially on New Year’s Eve when the fountains are lit up and dancing in time to the music.
The main stage featured a show which had live music and dancing. The Magic Fountain had a light and water show followed by fireworks at 12 o'clock.
At midnight, we noticed a lot of people eating grapes... It wasn't until the next day that we discovered it's one of Spain's most important New Year traditions?!?!?
The idea is to eat twelve grapes just before midnight. You eat one at a time at each chime of the clock as it counts down to midnight and then you toast with Cava, a sparkling wine produced in Catalonia.. Perhaps we'll come back next year and join in with this one!
Just incase you aren't following me on Snapchat, here are some pictures of the incredible fireworks display...
We are having a brilliant time. Barcelona is such a beautiful city!
I hope you enjoyed the celebrations wherever you are!
Wishing you the very best for 2016,
